Operation Thanks From Above
Operation Thanks From Above, honoring first responders, medical personnel and essential workers all across the Southern Tier, did a flyover of the New York State Veterans' Home in Oxford, the City of Norwich, UHS Chenango Memorial Hospital and the Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport in Norwich (OIC).
The National Warplane Museum's Douglas C-47, affectionately named “Whiskey 7”, a P-51 Mustang named "Mad Max" and another aircraft made the flyover.
The Douglas C-47 is a WWII veteran and was the lead aircraft in the second wave of the D-Day invasion June 6th, 1944 over Sainte Mere Eglise, Normandy. And 76 years to the date, it made a thank you flight over the Southern Tier.
